During our career we all struggle with questions such as:

  • How do I get invited to give lectures on my work?
  • How do I get 5 (!) recommendation letters?
  • What is the best way to recruit a good postdoctoral student?
  • How do I solve my two-body issue?
  • How do I choose a good project to work on?
  • If I TA during my graduate studies, will it help me get a faculty job?
  • How do I balance my career and family?
  • When I negotiate a faculty position, what kind of a startup I should aim for?
  • What is the most efficient and effective form of mentoring and helping female undergraduate students?
  • What should I focus on as a priority, in order to promote myself and my research in the wider world, besides conference presentations and peer-reviewed papers?
  • Which factors and strategies improve the chances of being invited to present my research at reputed institutions relevant to my field?
  • How do women faculty insulate themselves from unconscious and unspoken gender-bias originating from within the department?
  • How to get most from undergraduate students?
  • Although several of these questions are not necessarily related only to women, a woman's perspective on these issues is usually quite different than a man's.

During her travels, Prof. Lipson meets regularly with female students to discuss these questions. Send us an email if you would like to schedule such a visit. Alternatively, feel free to contact Prof. Lipson directly by email regarding any of these issues. All emails and questions will remain completely confidential.
